(Wichita, KS) The Rochester Lancers (6-10) ended their six game losing streak this evening with a convincing 19-10 win over the Wichita Wings (6-9). The Lancers were led offensively by Mauricio Salles who had a two goal, five point effort to move into third place in the MISL scoring race. Doug Miller scored one goal to move back ahead of Missouri’s Byron Alvarez as the MISL’s leading scorer. Patrick Hannigan made 18 saves and recorded his first win since returning from injury.

It took a while for the feeling out process to get over with and it was over half-way through the opening quarter before Salles would score the first goal of the game from beyond the 3-point arc. Former Lancer Andrew Hoxie would score to pull the Wings to within a point after one quarter of play.

Miller would score early in the second and Hoxie would get his second of the game to make the Lancers lead at half-time 5-4.

The Lancers would open up the game in the third quarter. Evan McNeley would make his Lancer debut memorable with a 3-point goal less than two minutes into the second half. Stephen Basso would score from 3-point range as well a little more than a minute later to widen the Lancers lead. Salles would get his second of the game before Tiguinho would be able to stop the Lancers roll at eight points.

Andy Tiedt would score less than a minute into the fourth quarter and give the Lancers a nine point lead once again. The Wings would go with an extra attacker with over seven minutes left. Frederico Moojen would score twice with the keeper pulled. But, the Lancers would get a pair of goals of their own with the Wings’ keeper off the field. Kyle Manscuk and Tiedt would score when the keeper was off to give the Lancers a 19-10 win.

With eight goals by the Lancers this evening Dunkin Donuts will donate eight pounds of coffee to Foodlink. So far this season Dunkin Donuts has donated 92 pounds of coffee.

The Lancers will return to action on Saturday, January 19th when they visit the Missouri Comets at 8:35 pm at the Independence Events Center. The Lancers will return home to Christopher J.
